Fifth graders take on engineering challenges at May 2 event

On Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., fifth-grade students will explore the field of engineering and related career opportunities during the first-ever Family Engineering Night at R.R. Oehrli Elementary in Montague.

Marios Demetriou, MAISD Deputy Superintendent was recently awarded the Michigan School Business Official's (MSBO) School Business Official of the Year at MSBO's 75th Annual Conference. This award honors an individual for their accomplishments and contribution to their profession, MSBO and their school district.

CTC students earn scholarships at State Health contest

Thirty Muskegon Area Career Tech Center (MACTC) students from the Rehab Tech, Medical Assistant, and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) programs competed in a variety of healthcare skills and leadership events at the State HOSA Leadership Conference on April 11-12, 2013.

Soldier, spy & holocaust survivor to tell life story
|

Holocaust survivor Marthe Cohn will be here in West Michigan to share her personal story of the deadly Nazi anti-Semitism she encountered when Germany invaded France. Cohn will speak publicly and sign her book Behind Enemy Lines on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. as part of a free commemoration service at Samuel Lutheran Church in downtown Muskegon. She will speak again on Monday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Muskegon. Advance tickets are required for this dinner event to raise funds for local holocaust and genocide studies.

Culinary students hone their job seeking skills

On Monday, April 8, 2013, nine Muskegon Area Career Tech Center Catering & Culinary Management students took part in Getting Hired 101, an innovative professional skills development day for ProStart students piloted by the Michigan Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, held at the Lexington Hotel in Lansing, MI.
