Course Description:

Electrical & Computer Technologies (ECT) is the core of many career fields including computer repair, electronic installer and electrician. You will use state-of-the-art equipment to monitor electrical devices and circuits, develop troubleshooting skills, and gain an understanding of electronics. Beyond the core electronics fundamentals, ECT concentrates instruction on four additional areas: PC Maintenance, robotics automation, and residential installation (security, home theater, telecommunications, and mobile electronics installer). As a Pearson VUE testing facility students can become certified in A (computer technician), DHTI (electronic installer) and MECP (mobile electronics certified professional).

Student Quotes:

"I just wanted to email you to let you know that I got a job working with HP in Pontiac. I am attending baker college and plan to graduate with my associates this spring but plan to go on for a bachelors part time. Baker did recognize that I had A+ [Certification] and I didn't have to take two classes which sped things up a bit and saved me some money so thank you for that. I'm not sure where I would be if I didn't go to career tech. Also, if I'm around when class is in session I would like to stop by and maybe talk to your students."
– Former Electrical & Computer Technologies Student Jeff Field

"I liked the fact that I got to learn about things I am actually intersted in."
